Why Split PDFs?
Large PDFs can be unwieldy to share, especially when only a few pages are relevant. Splitting lets you extract exactly the pages you need — send a client just chapter 3, or pull out a single form from a 50-page packet.
Our splitter uses pdf-lib to copy pages losslessly — there is no re-encoding, no image recompression, and no quality degradation. Each output file contains the exact same pages as your original, byte for byte.
Everything runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No server uploads, no registration, no waiting. Your documents stay private, and the split completes in seconds even for large files.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my files uploaded to any server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your documents are never uploaded, inspected, or stored by any server — they stay on your device from start to finish.
How will I receive my files after splitting?
Each page or range becomes its own PDF. You can download them individually, or click 'Download ZIP' to get all files bundled into a single archive.
Does splitting a PDF affect its quality?
No. Splitting is a lossless process — pages are copied exactly as they are in the original document. There is no re-encoding, no image recompression, and no quality loss.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
We attempt to open encrypted PDFs with the ignoreEncryption flag. Files with weak or owner-only passwords will usually work. Files with strong user passwords may fail — remove the password first.
How do custom page ranges work?
Enter comma-separated values like '1-3, 5, 8-10'. Each value creates a separate PDF — '1-3' becomes a 3-page PDF, '5' becomes a single-page PDF, and '8-10' becomes a 3-page PDF.
Is there a limit on the number of pages?
There is no hard limit. The tool can handle PDFs with hundreds of pages. Practical limits depend on your device's available memory.
